Printed on premium fine art paper and individually signed on a white border by Matt Palmer, AIPP Master of Photography.

Sjónarhóll is a beautiful abandoned farmhouse on the Reykjanes Peninsula of Iceland. If only I could buy and renovate it! The farm was the first place I visited in this winter trip to Iceland, deciding to take in some farms near the airport at Keflavik as I became reacquainted with driving on the other side of the road – and on ice!

As I began photographing the building a vehicle appeared in the distance and made a beeline towards me. I thought perhaps it was a local coming to see what I was up to. As they pulled up I gave them a wave and a big hello to show that I wasn’t a threat or up to any mischief.

They responded with Aussie accents and it turns out that they were from my home town of Brisbane! Here I am having just gotten off 40 hours of transit to be greeted by other Australians before any other. What a strange world we live in sometimes.
